Being a SWATCo

I take great pride in being the SWATCO (South West Academic Trust Co Ordinator) at DHSB; it is a great role and responsibility to hold.  I work alongside eleven colleagues throughout grammar schools in the South West.

The opportunity for our colleagues to plan and host their own CPD events is excellent.  They are in control of creating CPD which really addresses and meets the needs they are facing the in classroom.  There is a huge amount of sharing information and collaboration throughout the region.   The programme of conferences culminates with the MtD Conference which last year was held at Poole Grammar School.  This was a real showcase of outstanding practice and celebration of individuals across our schools.

For me the conference challenged my thinking about university, gave rise to some thought provoking conversations about how we provide opportunities outside of the curriculum and I got the opportunity to chat with @headguruteacher about Lesson Study.

There are many subject conferences which have already happened and some great opportunities which are being planned and developed; all this will culminate in our Teaching and Learning Conference on 11th June which will be held at Exeter University.

I look forward to seeing many of you there.
